lasting change happens when communities are informed
GRAVO
Grassroots’ Voices is a community-based organization (CBO) operating in Kwale County, Kenya. The organization was founded in 2023 to respond to the growing community concerns around weak public participation, limited access to information, environmental degradation, climate impacts, and shrinking livelihood opportunities, particularly in areas affected by extractive activities and socio-economic marginalization.
thematic areas
GRAVO operates under an umbrella of three thematic areas namely;
At the core of our work is the belief that inclusive governance, driven by evidence-based advocacy and community participation, leads to more transparent, accountable and responsive Institutions. Our theory of change is grounded in a commitment to equity and social justice. We begin by identifying the systemic and contextual issues affecting the marginalized and vulnerable groups through participatory engagements.
We firmly believe that meaningful change is achieved through collaboration and collective action. Over the years, we have cultivated strong partnerships with County government, civil society actors and grassroots networks to advance our shared goal of inclusive and accountable governance. In partnership with County government of Kwale, we have actively contributed to the development and implementation of inclusive planning frameworks.
