About Grassroots Voices

Grassroots’ Voices (GRAVO) is a community based organization dedicated to promoting the rights of marginalized and vulnerable communities in Kwale County. Our advocacy is evidence based and uses data and grassroots insights to advocate for   transparent and accountable governance, particularly in sectors critical to human development such as health, education, environment, agriculture and social protection.

GRAVO operates under an umbrella of three thematic areas namely;

We promote SAGG by empowering citizens particularly the marginalized and vulnerable groups to engage with duty bearers, demand transparency in resource use and influence decision making processes at both levels of government.

We advocate for inclusive climate policies and practices that prioritize the rights of the vulnerable populations, ensuring that development does not come at the cost of ecological degradation or human dignity.

We also advance corporate accountability in the mining sector, with a particular focus on the large scale operations and the governance of natural resources management. Our approach seeks to ensure that communities meaningfully benefit from the mining operations, while at the same time demanding businesses to uphold the rights of local communities, protect workers and safeguard the environment in which they operate.

We focus on securing the rights of marginalized and vulnerable groups to access land, water and other natural resources, while promoting resilience through sustainable practices and equitable economic opportunities.

By holding the government agencies accountable and amplifying community voices, we aim to foster just, inclusive and resilient systems where human rights and environmental sustainability are interdependent and protected.
