Social Accountability and Good Governance (SAGG)

Overview

lasting change happens when communities are informed

Social Accountability and Good Governance (SAGG)

We believe that communities prosper when leadership is transparent, accountable, and genuinely responsive to the people they serve. Yet, many citizens remain excluded from governance processes, unable to access information, track public resources, or influence decisions that shape their daily lives. Weak accountability systems, limited civic awareness, and the marginalization of key groups continue to widen the gap between institutions and the communities they are meant to serve.

Our social accountability work addresses this gap by empowering community members to understand their rights, scrutinize public spending, and demand quality services. Through a human rights–based approach, we equip citizens with the knowledge and tools to engage decision-makers confidently and constructively.

Our efforts span policy influencing, public interest petitioning, and sustained engagement with county and national stakeholders to ensure public decisions reflect people’s priorities, not political convenience.

We place evidence at the centre of our advocacy. By facilitating public dialogues, conducting community-led audits, and monitoring service delivery, we strengthen systems that uphold transparency and accountability.

Gender Equity, Social Inclusion, and disability inclusion are mainstreamed across all our interventions, ensuring that women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups participate fully and shape the decisions that affect their lives.

Grassroots’ Voices is working toward a future where good governance is not a privilege for the few but a collective duty grounded in dignity, justice, and meaningful civic participation.
